They are close , but if you want your real credit score, the only place to get it is through my fico. There could be a major difference in scores. Credit karma is great to monitor your credit and you generally no where you stand, but my scores are much higher on my fico then on here and my fico is the one most major banks use to extend credit.

Fico likes to see $0 balance on all cards , but a small balance reporting on one card seems to tweek your credit score for maximum potential I have found.

Credit inquiries do stay on for 2 years, but fico only counts them for the first year.

If you alredy have a high utilization and you have cards maxed out of your own, then closing this would decrease your available credit, thus driving your utilization even higher . Your score will definately take a hit. On the other hand, if your utilization is very low , then you have nothing to worry about. Close it . Keep in mind that this may lower your AAOA if it is one your oldest accounts. This in it self could lower your score.

How many inquiries do you have? 36 points is alot, so I suspect you have something else going on. I would go over your credit report again and look for other changes. When i app. for amex I took a 1 point hit on experian.

They stay on your report for 2 years, but they are only factored into your real fico score for 1 year.

Also tell them if they should try and take you to court you will be using that as your defense. It does work because I did it. I also wrote a letter and told them if it wasn't taken off my credit report asap, I would file a lawsuit against them and sue them. Mine was off within two days and my score jumped over 20 points

I to have recently opened a few new credit cards for the same reason and I also have a 0 balance on my other ones. It has increased my credit score dramatically and I now have received preapprovals from discover. I applied and was given a 4000 credit line with no annual fee and 0 apr. I did wait at least two months and received a second cap. one with a higher limit. . I recieved a card and two weeks later I received my discover. I dont have many inq and I waited and used the stimulator. When it said my score would rise, I applied. My credit is better than ever and my debt is 500.00 out of thousands.
