if you are getting denials, then you are only hurting youself by banging your head against the wall.. NO means NO..

take the capital one card, and spend the next 6 months using it to buy gas for the car, and pay it off every month.. at the end of the 6 months they should hit you with an automatic line increase, take it and keep your balances below 45% of your available line at ALL TIMES. DO NOT go over for any reason, not even for a second.

Make every payment early or on time, never even a day after the due date. keep that up for the months 6-12, and you should see a big increase in your scores, and at least 1 or 2 new card offers in the mail.

Have patience, and stop begging. the 'good' cards will find you in time.

will asking my credit card company to change from a standard to a rewards card count as a inquiry?

+1

ask the credit card company.. it could be if they have just checed your card re4cently. like around your anniversary, then it's possible that they would look into your rrequest as a courtesy... most of the time though, it would be a new hit on your credit reports...

call em and ask em..

What do I do if a collection agency shows I owe on a debt I paid in full to the original creditors?

call your bank and get a copy of the check, and send that alonmg with a cease and desist letter to the collecion agency, and demand they stop contacting you... Also send a copy of the letter and the check to the credit bureaus, and your state attorney generals office... Its amazing how fast your words get noticed when someone from the state calls the collection agent asking about your claim... send everything certified mail, return receipt requested, and keep everything filed securely for 7 years...   you dont need to call anyone, or pay anyone for anything, aside from the costs for postage and copying... if they still do not comply then remind the attorney general about your first letter, and see what they suggest.

how can I remove old account thats have been paid off 3 years ago

if it was paid off in good standing, then it stays 10 years or longer..
If it was a negative, then it stays for seven years from the date of first delinquency.. thems the rules, that line is here to stay at least a few more years.

I have a 637 score with credit karma and my score with equifax is 608, why is there a difference

because CK pulls your transunion score, not equifax.. different bureaus use different math to compute your score..

Is it true that you don't have to pay on a card that was mailed to you without you applying for it?

read the credit card agreement... it tells you everything you need to know about the card... I would bet, that you would be agreeing to the terms of use, just by using the card, even if you never signed a credit card application.. in any case, the credit card reciept clearly states that you agree to pay the balance promptly in accordance with the terms of use, so, unless you can quote some legal statute that gives you an out, I would say the answer to your question is 'NO' ...

private student loans

it never hurts to ask... write the bank a written offer to settle and see what they say... the worst that can happen is they say no, and you havent lost anything.

I really don't get this whole thing!

so are you asking a question or just venting...? the system is not set up for consumers to get ahead, its set up for the banks and finance comanies to make a buck. The sooner you realize that, and learn to play the game, the better off you'll be.

Deleting good accounts

closed accounts are purged off after a period of time... negatives are deleted after 7 years from the date of first delinquency, and positive lines fall off 10 years after last activity.. that is just the nature of the reports.. to keep your scores up, just focus on the few accounts you do have and keep them open and in good standing...

I am looking at my credit report and my negative accounts have zero balance and status Charge off.

it means the original creditor has written your account off as a bad debt, and taken the loss.. leave them alone, and they will age off 7 years after the date of first delinquency...

how do i pay old debt

if the accounts have already gone to collections, and they are not hassling you about the money owed... then LEAVE THEM ALONE.  If the debts are more than 5 years old from the date of last activity, then they will be dropping off in the next couple years anyways. HOWEVER- if you choose to make contact with the collection agency, and make payments on what is owed, that money will go to the collection agency, not the original creditor, and will do nothing to resolve the negative line on your credit reports. In fact, they could very easily resubmit your old debt as a new line to the credit bureaus, and restart the clock on the same debt all over again, so that that bad loan you had in 2003, that shouldve dropped off in 2010, now stays on for another seven years, and shows as a negative until 2017 or even longer... pull your credit reports from all 3 bureaus to be sure, but, again, if the debnt is more than 5 years old, and has gone to collections, and they are not chasing after you, then I would forget about it, and jsut let it age off in due time.

Having several "new" credit accounts lowered my score - how do I fix this now?

just stopp fiddling with things... just make every payment on time going forward,a dn leave the cards at home utill you get balances paid down... runnning the balances up once in a while in itself is not a bad thing, they wouldnt give you an x number credit limit if they didnt think you could safely handle it,. but, running your cards up to the limits and keeping them there isnt smart money management, or the most economical way to make use of the credit line.. just set up a budget of 6 12, 18 or 24 months, and figure out a budget amount of whatever you can safely pay on each card, each month to get the cards paid off to zero in a set period of time, then stick to it. and in the meantime, stop using the cards, untill you get them paid off.... as long as you are paying more than the min pmkt on every card every month, and making the payment before the due date, then you'll get things turned around, and your scores will be higher in the long run for it...

balance transfer

credit card accounts only close, when you specifically close them, not just because you paid them off, unless they were in collections status, or somehow in arrears... the compnay could also close the account, if its been inactive for an exctended period, like 24 months, but, it still wouldnt close, simply because you paid off the balance on the card.

STOLEN C/CARD-9-YEARS AGO, $1,750 APPEARS AS DEAGATORY-IWAS OUT OF USA -PROOF: PASSPORT!!!

if the debt is indeed more than 7 years old, tne statute of limitations has lapsed on that debt, and it is uncollectable... stop dealing with collection agents, and demand in wirting that the credit bureaus verify and validate this debt, or remove it from your credit reports..

60/90 days to get to all the bureaus... but it could show sooner

Company won't remove false negative information

contact your state attorney generals office, and give them copies of everything you have.. the denial letter from the credit bureaus, and the settlement letter from the original creditor... they should be able to help.

I haven't applied for any credit so why are there 5 hard inquiries on my report?

have you changed jobs, applied for insurance, filled out a rental app for an apartment? any of these things can cause a hard inquiry on your credit... and as someone pointed out, inquiries are reported on a rolling 24 month calendar, so if you havent applied for anything in 8 months, then there may have been some hits prior to that point that just havent fallen off yet...

I have two chase credit cards. They will not lower the rate, which is 29.99% . What can i do.

if you have good credit, then start reading credit card disclosures, untill you find a card with a better rate... I would not just grab the next application i see and apply for whatever crosses my path.. take some time, do some research, and read every disclosure statement you find. whatever its for... its good practice to learn whats available, and  what you may qualify for... after you read several, you should be able to find a better card easily.. once you find the new card, then do a balance transfer, and set up a budget to pay off what ever balance you have, over the next 3,6,12 months... stick to that budget no matter what... its a good way to remind yourself of the promise you made to pay every bill on time every month. one last point, Unless you have at least 2 open cards with better rates, I would not consider closing the first card, the high rate one. reason being, you could very easily lower your overall credit limit, and your average age of open lines, in which case, you lower your score. good luck!

Is there any way to be removed from a joint credit cards?

you may have to file legal notice to separate yourself from this debt... contact a local attorney..

Can I use my household income when an application asks for annual income?

you include income if the person making that income will have a interest in repaying the obligation.. If mom and dad are gonna help you pay the card every month, then yes include them, but, you will also have to include their financial info as well as yours, and they would be named on the card as well as you. otherwise, just use your income...

Has any one filed a complaint with BBB against credit card company?

not against a credit card company, but i have filed against a creditor that was trying to charge fees on a closed account... provided you are dealing with a creditor that is also a BBB member, and you are working with your local BBB chapter, they can be very effective. record your calls, and document everything.

Are you responsible for the second mortgage loan if your home is foreclosed on?

default on one, default on all of them... then priority kicks in, and the most senior loan woks to foreclose on the property,, and auction it to recover the loss.. if there is any thing left over from the auction after the most senior loan is satisified, it either goes back to the former property owner, or, in the case of junior loans, then it goes to the second loan listed, then if anything is left over, then the former property owner gets whatever is left, unless there is there is a third position loan, and so on...  you could still be sued by any junior lienholders that werent paid off from the auction.

I had an account in good standing for 40 years at Macy's. It was sold to Citigroup who canceled it....

old accounts do not get reopened... period, especially in your case were it was a card issued by one company that was taken over by another... you arent gonna get the old card back... It's possible you might be able to get a new account opened with a new card, but, you would have to go through the application process like any other new client, no special considerations, just becasue you held a card from some other company they now bought out... there's no reason for them to take that effort. combine that with the facts you admit not using the card very often, with the BK you filed, and it looks even less likely they will open a new acct for you. if you really werent using the card that much to start with... is it really that much of a loss though?

PUBLIC RECORD TAX LIEN CAN IT BE REMOVED FROM 1986

the 'statute' of limitations varies from state to state, and depends also on what the public record is... federal tax liens and judgement entries are some of the worst, and can last 7, 10, even 15 years or indefinitely. my advice would be to pull a merged credit file on yourself, from all 3 bureaus with scores, and consult a local tax attorney, to see what your options are..
