I AM one of those people that Chase did exactly what the poster above speaks of. For many many years I paid and utilized my Chase cards - paying always on time, above min. and so on.I had 3.99 to 7.99 rates. The cards carried me through a divorce and job loss. Never failing to pay. Then I was hit with the increase to 5% on the summer of 09. This had been preceeded by 2 rate hikes. All before the cc laws took effect, allowing banks time to "hit" the consumer. I personally blame the Gov. for giving them this time. But, the results were the same. To maintain the affordable % I had to close the account. I was assured that the second chase card would not be effected. LIARS - within 6 months I had the same process to go through with the other card. My utilization went to 100% and my score took a nose dive. Thank you Chase.

Wish credit karma would stop showing me these - keep getting declined due to limits being high on revolving lines. They are high because all the banks lowed my limits to amt. owed during the crisis and no one else will open new acct. to improve ratios because ot this. Big Domino effect. 706 and never late, over limits or missed a payment to anyone. Big banks have become a joke.
