Customer service is awesome. Got a 1500 credit line with a 2 year history. Highest CK score was 714. Now its 629. However, FICO is what matters with Discover and it was 689 when approved. Pulled TU in Houston, TX. 5% cash back is way awesome.

Well it depends... did you reply to a pre-approved offer? I know my sister has bad credit so she responded to a pre-approved offer and was approved for 300. She has scorewatch from myfico but she never received an alert. I wonder if they pulled EX or TU?!

Overall the card would seem to be good but I wouldn't know since I DIDN'T get approved! With a CK score of 714 and FICO TU 681 I was denied for this card however, I was approved for a Discover More Card!(pulled TU) I truly find this ridiculous! Correct me if im wrong, but isn't Discover a better bank than Citi?

By the way, does anyone have experience with their CLI's? Or do they review your account every 6 months? Or something like that?

I applied for this card with a CK score of 705 and FICO TU of 682 and gave me 7-10 message. Called credit center in Utah (btw I love discover cs because they tell you exactly which call center you call) and the lady asked me more information and told me I would be receiving a letter in 7-10 days and I asked her if I had been denied, she said no, that it still needed more processing time. So i guess she felt pity for me and went ahead and asked if I was employed and verified my income (25K) and length of employment. She put me on hold for about 2 minutes came back and said I had been denied for the Student More Card because I'm currently a student at a 2-year college. She then said she could approve me for a regular Discover More card. I said yes ofcourse! My first real discover card! She gave me a limit of 1500 and asked me if that was enough, I said ok because I was excited. I had applied for discover before a year ago. This was a lucky approval because in Texas they mostly pull EQ and I had lots of inquiries. I had about 2 on TU. My oldest account was opened about 2 years ago.

If I had your scores, I wouldn't want a Citi forward for students. I would get Amex or Discover.

I do agree with some of your points. But putting a bank out of business is not easy!! Plus greedy banks is part of capitalism, which is survival of the fittest. Why do you think the banks who took the bail out are still here?

well the rates they post are simply for illustration. They take into consideration that your credit score is like a 750>. Obviously you wouldn't expect to get those "good" rates with a less than perfect credit score.

Duh... they don't charge interest unless you become delinquent. Therefore, they have to get the money from somewhere to award you points on travel and other stuff. That stuff is not free.

They sent me a pre-approved offer through the mail and my score said 695. Im barely 18 so im still in school. This card is stupid because its simply not made for students. Discover is full of it. I didn't get approved.

I think you guys aren't playing the credit game. You get a credit card and use it, pay it off, then just chill for about 2 years (no inquiries during that time). Then prescreened credit offers will start coming in the mail. One thing I know about American Express, if they send you an invitation to apply, its a sure bet you will get the card.

I hardly doubt its credit karma's fault. You applied for it, your responsible. They are just here to give us a free credit score, what bureau does that? Only Transunion. By the way, FYI American Express if for old people who have long credit histories. I know this because I've seen hardly any 20-30 year old people carry it. Only 35+

I think Amex is full of it. THey closed all of my relatives' cards as well. And they have well over 700 score and income past 100k

I have a 695 score with 6 inquiries. Do you think this is good enough?
Comment posted 2 years ago
Thats true. These offers that credit karma offers aren't guaranteed. Plus you do have two maxed out credit cards so what do you expect?

Just reached 695 from 639 when I first joined. Im happy. Five points away from the 700 club.

you know you have a right to know which consumer agency reported that right?

Don't listen to DjHarmonic since the date of this article (09/06) Capital One has fixed this issue. Personally, I have 2 capital one cards and they both report the limits.

No but seriously, how does discover expect people to get approved for this card if they hardly approve anybody!!!! I got denied with a 663 Transunion, 606 Equifax, and 657 Experian. Hey you guys, maybe it has something to do with Innovis???? I heard this is the 4th major bureau. I might want to check into that.

Lol the $495 fee will sure beat the centurion card's annual fee of like $2500!

I find this card ridiculous! You have to have good credit in order to get approved. WTF? Its suppose to be a student card with people to start out their credit.

Denied with a score of 663. I haven't seen nobody get approved for this with something below 700
