Royal Banks of Missouri has a 4.3% checking account with 15 debit transactions and one direct deposit or ACH withdrawal per month. Apparently has been offering this product since May 2009. I am not so pleased with their customer service in making sure everything was in place for me to get the higher rate, but now that I am doing what I must to get it, I like the thought that I am not tied in for the long haul because it is a checking account. No minimum balance either.

First USA NA is Chase Credit Card. Their number is 1-800-955-9900.
I did take advantage of the offer on this site for their rewards card. I presume the two inquiries were due to when I applied versus when I first used it because the CSR hung up on me while I went to retrieve my card from my purse. I also know now from this site that getting another rewards card affects both my average account longevity and number of accounts I have.
It's a relief to know the inquiries were from something I did.

They are listed in the same section of that Experian report, so I presume they are all hard to be listed at all:
Bureau Date Credit Inquiry
TUC 2009-05 FIRST USA NA
TUC 2009-04 TRONOENTER
TUC 2009-03 LC HOUSE VEN
TUC 2009-01 FIRST USA NA
TUC 2008-05 NORTHFIELDBK
TUC 2008-05 NORTHFIELDBK
TUC 2008-04 NORTHGATE
Of the seven listed inquiries, three I recognize as rental agencies. That is past business, and there is nothing I can do about it. I live in a tight housing market and getting on lists is part of the game. I will try holding back on the inquiries if possible next move.
I am also on the DMA "do not junk mail me" list and the National Do Not Call Registry, so I do not even recall getting any credit offers in the mail for months, possibly years, the sources I presume of "soft offers" of credit you mentioned.
What should I do with this information regarding the unknown, probably hard, inquiries? Do I call about the two involving a bank I use? (I took out no loans or credit cards. I believe my checking account with them is older than 5-08). As for First USA NA, I have no idea who they are or what this is about, and there is no contact phone number on the Experian report for them.
This thread is about improving credit scores by avoiding hard inquiries as one factor. What do people such as myself do with hard inquiry data, especially when the need for an inquiry or even the source (First USA NA) is unknown?

Re: Point #1, checking credit, limiting hard inquiries, reasons for pull of credit unknown
How can I learn why my credit was pulled by two other sources, twice each, for no reason I can remember? One, First USA NA, has no contact number. Should someone in the 760-780 range with a long history call and find out?

Re: Point #1, checking credit, limiting hard inquiries while renting
I am one of those 780s (dropped slightly after moving to 765), who has a 20-year credit history and pays off in full every month. One of the tips when I pulled my Experian Credit today was to limit hard inquiries. I have seven, three of which are definitely due to moving earlier this year. How do renters limit inquiries when landlords these days ask for permission to pull your report when filling out rental applications? I mean, how can I say no and still be considered?
