i recently recieved the non-preferred version of this card. I have a CK score of 672 and a vantage score of 675. I received a pre-approval mailer and decided to apply online. Instantly received approval with a 4.2K limit (52K house income, rental, no chap7). The last few months I've accumulated a series of new plastic (Amex Blue, Amex Green, BoA/HRC Visa Signature, CapOne Cash) so I probably will just tend my garden for the next couple of years. I get 40K in 'thank you' pts with 2K spending in first 3 months, 0% 12 month APR and 12.99% APR after.

actually drewsworld is closer to accurate....the transaction fees is a sizable chunk of the ccards profit margin. it 's atleast 3% (4.5% for amex) and can go as high as 7+% for the visa signature/world mastercard lines....

upgraded to this card from my capone platinum ...actually because i have a limit under 5K it's still a platinum i just now get 1.5% back (1% across the board and a 50% anniversary bonus). I called to get a CLI and they offered this. because the upgrade (this card) is a world mastercard i requested to have my limit show on my credit report so as not to diminish my score (it happened to me with my visa signature card). i currently have a 678CK score/ 845 vantage score. I am assuming this is one of the 'prime' capital one cards....but honestly the only reason i keep a capital one card around is because of the lack of international transaction fees.

the CARD Act actually allows us as consumers to see which credit score credit card companies are using to base their decisions (which gives you a chance to contest the decision), it also curtails being permenantly put in a penalty APR category (now credit card companies have to review your account after 6 months of being in the penalty APR), it requires at least 45 days notice before pushing up your APR, and it also allows you to opt out of being allowed to go over your limit (which in turn is used to slap you with an over the limit fee). considering former president bush gave away the country's 'surplus' in the form of a stimulus check (remember the $300-$600 we received in 2003) ....and he was a prolific spender (hey you have to pay for security some how), I hope your antipahty for obama extends to bush as well considering he probably had a greater hand in our current economic woes.

not necessarily true.... i definetely do not have a high income level (21K annual) and my credit score is average (current CK score 683) yet i have both an Amex credit card (blue everyday) and charge card (gold).

I love .... love....love my CFCU account. I've been a member for about 10 years and despite no longer living in DC i still maintain my accounts. customer service is always phenomenal (i call the main number not the 800 # which i suspect is routed to an external call center), and reps always are forthcoming about information which makes reconcilling issues, making decisions better. now that i am about to finish my graduate studies the commercial banks (chase, B of A, etc) have been soliciting me heavy, but i am a CFCU member for life....and they will probably get my home loan biz in the near future.

applied for green after opening amex blue everyday....i don't use this often as it's only for personal travel expenses and school related items (i am grad student). as with all of the amex cards the only thing i really dislike is the lag in posting of rewards .... usually it's about 6 weeks. my ck (TU) score at time of approval was 683.

was upgraded to the 'prestige'....pro: no annual fee (have had the card for 3 years now) - con: apr is variable rate (21.95%), there is no negotiating of APR, customer service is not helpful for anything other than finding out your credit availability/current balance,,,,, i have 2 cap1 cards (visa/MC) and by far this is the better of the 2....only reason i have this card is because i called for a credit limit increase on my cap1 visa and was told to instead apply for MC plat card.
