Hard inquiries stay on your credit report for 2 years. If your shopping for a mortgage or auto loan any inquires within a two week period should only count as one (even if you have multiple inquires).

You can get a auto loan if needed and approved by your court trustee, so you can get limited credit while in a Ch 13... but no new credit cards or use of any while active in a Ch 13. As Camalott4 stated time and lower balances are your best new friend!

Pre-Ch 7 my credit score was 530, due to maxed out credit cards, but on-time payments. After my discharge in Feb 2010 my FICO credit score was 632 and now six months later 692, even after opening a credit card and auto loan! So there is life after Bankruptcy.. yes, it will be on my credit report for the next 10 years, but if you pay on-time and manage your credit (stay below 30% of your limits) you should do well and keep improving your credit score over time!

I might also add they pulled an Experian report, as I have a freeze on it and had to call them and OK the the hard pull.

Just opened a High Yield savings account... yes, they do a hard pull of your CR, but are bankruptcy friendly!
