No...nothing about a rebate was mentioned. just a simple interest rate & saving over $1100. But that is impossible with no BT available & an int rate higher than anything I have. Esentially, it's a bogus claim.

Scores aside, what you want to do is repair first, then rebuild! These folks are amazing on the FICO boards! http://ficoforums.myfico.com/ Go to the rebuilding section & read...read...read.

I actually have a 3 in 1 report that I subscribe to and can (and do) check dily. I always pay before the statement cut date, which is when 99% of CCC's report to the 3 bureaus. As far as Cap 1 goes, or any other card with those APR's listed as lowest, I'd never apply. I've earned far better than 13. something or other. I'm biding my time then apping with Navy Fed. Their current apr for BT's is 5.99 for 1 year with no BT fee. You can't find a better deal anywhere! But they pull Equifax, so I'm waiting for thaty FICO to go up a little bit more.

First of all...you don't have "a" credit score, you have 3. The loan company might pull one report, while a credit card company may pull another.
As much as I do enjoy this site & love the overall improvements in available info on my report, lenders use FICO scores. Not individual score models developed by not only the 3 reporting agencies, but different sites as well.
For instance, credit check total and free credit report are both owned by Experian, both have the same info on your report, but both give you a different score and neither is a FICO. Experian won't sell them to us any more.

You can go from a 700 score to 400 in a few weeks if you try hard enough!
Max out all cards...score killer!
Given longer than a few weeks...stop paying ALL accounts...your score will tank so fast you won't see it coming!

It seems that certain cards get "airplay" here while other cards with cheaper annual fees are nowhere to be found.
Why is that? Or is it obvious...the ones here pay for advertising.

An attorney?? For what?
With a score that low, what you might want to do is ask your parents to add you as an authorized user on one of their cards. Be sure this is a GOOD account with no derogatory comments or late payments. This will help with your average age of revolving credit. They need not give you a card. wait for the acct to post to your reports, and then try for a visa or MC with the bank you use regularly. Even if your parents can't do the AU, go to your bank & talk with one of the financial specialists. Tell them your situation & ask for their opinion on what may be best for you.

Historically, AMEX will usually pull a EX or EQ report. Discover often pulls TU, but remember, your actual FICO may be different than what your CK score is, and different CC Companies pull different reports depending what state you live in & what card you're actually applying for.

One thing to keep in mind...FICO scores are different than scores generated by the Credit reporting agencies (this site, as previously mentioned, uses TU data & a TU scoring system).
That being said, if you buy your score directly through Equifax, that score IS a true FICO score. Buying your Experian score from the EX website, that gives you their Vantage score, which I have found to be a waste of money as it is NEVER close to your actual FICO. Also, remember, as of this time last year, EX has totally halted any sale of the FICO score to us consumers.
Here in Credit Karma, they use the TU scoring system, and while not a true FICO, I have found the scores here to be extremely close to a FICO purchased within a couple days & nothing different reporting on my credit report. With this site offering your basic TU report data (total revolving balances, mortgage balances & Inquiries showing) and the corresponding score for this snapshot in time, I have to give them a thumbs up for this.
As far as EX goes...I keep an eye on my reports, but as far as scores go, I pretend they don't even exist. That's what they think of me, as a consumer, so they get NO $$ from me for anything...ever. Period.

I wondered the same thing. And why would I want a card with an apr of 15.24 when I have 2 under 10 & one more under 8%.
And we all know that no one uses a CK score to approve or disapprove you anyway. If your FICO doesn't meet the criteria, too bad so sad.

What people need to realize is that each individual company, such as Credit Karma, Credit Check Total, Free Credit Report . Com, and also, each of the individual reporting agencies: Experian, Equifax & Trans Union, ALL use their own and very different scoring formula, or algorithm. Even if all your reports are exactly the same (which is highly unlikely) those different formulas will give you different scores all over the place. Even the FICO scores for one agency can differ, depending if it is a credit card pull, a mortgage pull or an automobile loan pull. The best way to get the highest score possible is to focus on the content of the reports. Great reports beget great FICO scores. Period.
