I am a full time college student (16 credits/semester) with 27K income and 697 credit score. Credit history since 1992. Denied by Discover. I would suggest not to apply for this or any other Discover cards. I have heard that they have terrible customer service and their criteria has shown to be very strict for a student card because even this 56 year-old homeowner and college senior cannot get approved. I was approved for a Capital One card.

College student with a CK of 683, 14k a year part time, 2 credit cards for about 3 months and a loan in good standing for about a year, no blemishes, denied. Their standards are a little rough for college students and only leads to unnecessary inquiries. My advice is don't bother applying. By the time you do have good enough credit, you will qualify for better a better rewards card.
I don't understand why. Insufficient credit history when I make my payments on time and everything.

Credit score of 570, denied.

CK of 650/699, denied because of insufficient credit history. I have had a car loan for 9 months, a credit card for 4, and a charge card with AMEX for 3.
I'm a college student. Seriously, Discover? Do you really expect a college student to have that much credit history?

I'm glad I didn't read these reviews before applying for this card.
I have no credit history, and I was not immediately approved but got approved after talking to a representative ("Approval Specialist") for 5 minutes about my personal situation. He advised a course of action which would get me immediate approval. Very quick approval for $500 credit limit.
Best customer service experience I've ever had. I previously got denied without immediate explanation from Capital One.
