We have been good customers of Discover Card since 1986. We rarely carry a balance but, this month I missed our payment that was due on the 17th. I normally pay the full balance each month. 4 days late and with NO phone call or email they suspended our account!!! I had to call to find out why our card wasn't accepted at the gas pump!

I have a 734 and was declined. No credit card debt, many paid installment loans, all monthlies and loans on time paid for 6 or more years, current accounts in good standing. The only thing I can think of is I am a waitress at the same job for over 2 years. Is there employment discrimination?

670- I love Credit Karma and really appreciate everybody's feed back. I recently found that I am being charged 30.23% when I believed that it would be max.14.99%. Turns out that Chase is charging 15.23% for credit purchases, then 14.99% for balance transfers, did I forget to mention that Chase is raising my 15.23% to 18%. In my opinion they are legally ripping us off and taking advantage of my ingnorance. If anyone has a good idea, I am looking for a card that I can do a credit transfer from Chase without getting railroaded agian. Thank You everyone and Credit Karma.

Chase seems to really enjoy that! I have had two cards at different times that were acquired by Chase from other companies (I would NEVER apply to Chase for anything). Latest incident is a card I have had since 2003. This card went from the original issuer to a second and finally Chase. Since 2003, the payment has been late one time and always over the minimum. After they cancelled my credit privileges, my interest rate just went to 29.99%. I will really be glad when this account reaches 0. According to their chart, if I make only minimum payments on the 750.00 balance, the account will be paid off in the year 2032. Did I mention that I will be really glad when this account is gone?

I'm sorry about your difficulty with Chase. I have a home loan with them and I could have told you that they are the "Great Satan" of finance. In my opinion, people should March pn their homes like they have done with the executives from Bank of America because of their unresponsiveness and indifference to their customers. They will gauge you on the first slip-up. They tried to do so with me. But, I prevailed.

I've rose from a 629 to a 653 in 3 months with several cards(greatly paying down my card debt) and a $6,900 personal loan for a motorcycle from Citi that I was approved for yesterday, and I'm going to wait until 2010 to apply for my next card. Hopefully I will be in the 700+ range. I won't apply for this, I will try to increase the limit on my Chase Freedom card or will look for a new card with Chase.

699 - approved. I have 2 new lines of credit ($7K and $5K limits with bals of about 1/3 of the limits) and one MC with $1K limit which has a bal of $500. I have a mortgage and a car loan as well. They sent me a letter to call them before I could be approved. I called and they asked if my income was commission based. I was also asked about my length of time on the job (7 years) and amount of my salary. I was told I was approved on the phone call. They never confirmed with my employer any of this information. This company has some strange approval requirements judging from the comments I see on this card.

I think they are looking for more responsible people with high limits and high loans so they think they can pay it off. Also I guess job duration helps.
