I applied for one of their "pre-approved" offers last year. I was told that I could get a card but the limit was 1000. dollars and the interest rate would be almost 20%. I already have 4 cards at a better rate, with higher limits and a credit score of over 700..and my length of credit history is just over 3 years..... I declined their card and will never consider them again!!

Thanks for commenting people. No point in taking a hit on my credit score for a decline.

I applied on a pre approved offer last year and was declined with a credit score of 710. I called and was told that it was because I had balances on other accounts. Even though utilization was only at about 10 percent I was told they dont like to see more than one card with an open balance even if it is a very small amount. So basically my score had nothing to do with it.

I was denied with a credit score of 652, same job for 10 years. I have 4 adverse accounts, so I'm assuming this is the reason.

Since I still have a ch.7BK on my report, I won't even bother with this, even with a 669 score.

Credit score 760 and denied.. Will never apply again for Discover.
Never been denied by any credit card including AMEX. I would not recommend Discover to anyone, not worth it.

Credit Score is only part of the ACCEPT or DECLINE equation. Specific items in your credit play a role also, such as lates, collections, bankruptcy, recent inquiries or recent accounts. Therefore, a relatively high score with one of these items may mean you are declined based on the content or your credit report, not the score.

This is absolutely correct.
