Same situation as others...have had Citi card for 4 years at 7% and recently got new account terms in mail, rate going to 27%!!!! They blame it on the bad economy. They need to blame themselves for lending money to irresponsible people and hit them with the higher rates. Have paid on time, over minimum each month and this is the thanks I get! Screw them! I don't need the card that much! Opted out at current rate of 7% but can't use card after expiration date...oh well, their loss!

Citi can jack rates up to infinity on people who aren't paying their bills, it doesn't mean Citi will make any money. If you are silly enough to carry a balance with Citi, then of course they will try to extract that loss from your finances so they can fix their own finances. Don't revolve balances with Citibank unless the terms they give you are fixed and not variable. Since that is never going to happen any time soon, don't revolve on Citi cards.

christoofar, 'fixed' rates no longer exist. 'fixed' rates can become variable at any time. if your bank or credit union honors a fixed rate, you're lucky -- or you're paying in full. but times are changing, and fixed rates not really being fixed are part of that change.

you're right about not revolving, which can apply to any card right now.

paying over minimum isn't very good anyways, they probably see your high balances and decided you are a too high of a risk. The only way is to pay full every month

Just applied and was excepted with a credit score of about 720. Ended up with a pretty good limit and about 16% purchase APR. Pretty happy with it so far, since this rate is less than my other Chase card and has a decent introductory period of 6 months. I know there are others with longer intro periods, but I was shooting for the lowest APR I could get.

I've had this card for a couple years, always paying on time and good usage. For no reason I get a letter in the mail saying they need to "make money" so they jacked up the interest rate to 29.99% from 8.24%.

I paid it in full and will not use it unless I am going to pay it in full when the bill comes, hoping they will come to their senses.

Same thing happen to me last month. I had an interest rate of 9% and they jacked up to 29.99%. Very stupid decisions for banks to do that. When you to talk them, they always tell you that you are their utmost importance and will help you in anyway they can but it is the other way around..they screw you up.

I know that now a days that credit card companies are raising the interest rates on consumers that hey believe are high risk of not paying their credit card bill. Its messed up.

Same here. Have had card at least 10yrs always paid balance got the letter raising to 29.9. Just stopped using it. These mega banks are the lowest of the low & after WE bailed them out!!! They actually have meetings to discuss new & better ways to screw the customer.

Got rejected for 729. No debt. No default payment. have credit history for 4 months.

Reasons: o Your credit bureau report shows you have no revolving accounts with a balance.

o The consumer reporting agency serving your area has

reported a limited credit history for you.

My frens got the card with 650-680 score with poor history.

Very disappointed!

you know you have a right to know which consumer agency reported that right?

I was rejected with a credit score of 688. But the reason they gave is because I was late on one payment with my wachovia card which has since been paid off for a while now.

I received card and terms today, 7 months 0% introductory on purchases and transfers, Rate after that is 12.74 + Prime. Kind of high, I probably won't use this card much.

Got it with a 679 score with a 1,200 limit. Transfer rate of 0% for 7 months. Will transfer my remaining $700 from a nasty Chase card(used to be WaMu) that decided to charge me 29.99% outta nowhere. To hell with Chase. I ALWAYS pay on time and more than the min. Have asked them to reduce my rate, got a "sorry." Will cut up my Chase card as soon as I get back home.

lucky you, but don't get too excited yet. i've been with citicards for 10 years and they just sent me notice that my interest was going up to 29.99%. i always pay on time! all bets are off after your teaser rate expires.

What credit reporting agency does Citi Platinum Select Card use to guage approval? CK says that I have a 756 but I know that my Equifax score is lower. I don't want to take another inquiry hit on Equifax. Thanks !
